Understanding My Measurements: Plus-Size Guide for Theme Park Rides

As someone who loves sharing my experiences at Disney and other Orlando theme parks, I aim to provide you with all the information you need to enjoy your theme park visit comfortably. One of the most common questions I receive is about my measurements and how they relate to fitting on rides. So, here's a detailed post about my measurements to help you determine if you can fit on certain rides if you have similar measurements to me.

My Measurements:

  • Body Shape: Pear-shaped
  • Bust: 52 inches
  • Waist: 48 inches
  • Hips: 56 inches
  • Height: 5'6"
  • Clothing Size: 22/24
  • Calves: 19 inches

Why These Measurements Matter:

Understanding my measurements is crucial for anyone who has a similar body type and is concerned about fitting on theme park rides. Here’s how my measurements can help you:

  1. Seat Comfort:

    • The width of the seats and the fit of the restraint systems can vary greatly between rides. Knowing my measurements can give you an idea of what to expect in terms of seat comfort and fit.
  2. Restraint Systems:

    • Different rides have different types of restraint systems, including lap bars, over-the-shoulder restraints, and seat belts. My reviews will help you understand which rides have restraints that are more accommodating for plus-size riders.
  3. Queue and Accessibility:

    • Some rides have test seats available before you enter the queue. My measurements can serve as a reference point for you when trying out these test seats.

Example Ride Reviews: Here are a few examples of how my measurements have helped me review rides:

  • Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind:
    • With a snug but comfortable lap bar, this ride is plus-size friendly. My hips and thighs fit comfortably, and I was able to enjoy the ride without feeling restricted.
  • Flight of Passage (Avatar):
    • This ride has specific requirements for the seating and restraint system. My calves, which measure 19 inches, fit well within the ride’s requirements, allowing me to fully enjoy the immersive experience.
  • TRON Lightcycle/Run:
    • The leg restraints on TRON Lightcycle Run have a pin that fits behind the calf. With my calves measuring 19 inches, I was able to fit comfortably behind the pin, ensuring a secure and enjoyable ride.

Tips for Plus-Size Riders:

  • Test Seats: Always try out test seats available at the entrance of some rides. This can give you a better idea of how comfortable you’ll be on the actual ride.
  • Ask Cast Members: Don’t hesitate to ask cast members or ride attendants about the fit and comfort of the rides. They are usually very accommodating and can provide valuable information.
  • Plan Ahead: Research rides ahead of time to know which ones are more accommodating for plus-size riders.

I hope sharing my measurements helps you better understand how to navigate theme park rides as a plus-size visitor. Remember, everyone’s body is different, but having a reference point can make your theme park experience much more enjoyable.
